Taylor-Joy Wraps Filming On “Furiosa”

Warner Bros. Pictures

Anya Taylor-Joy has revealed that she has finally wrapped production on the George Miller-directed “Furiosa” with a posting on her Instagram account.

“The Queen’s Gambit” actress shared a trio of shots that had been taken during her time on the set of this fifth “Mad Max” film in which she plays the title character – a younger incarnation of the character Charlize Theron portrayed in “Mad Max: Fury Road”.

This film serves as a prequel and sees her character snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falling into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus.

Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke co-star in the film, whilst ‘Fury Road’ actors Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson will reprise their roles.

Taylor-Joy spoke of her appreciation for the hard work that the film’s crew put into the project: “It has been an honour and a privilege to create with you all… thank you for making me tougher than I ever thought I could be.”

Filming on the project began in June around various locations in New South Wales, Australia and is the biggest film production in the country’s history. The shoot reportedly experienced delays due to the omnipresent rain and flood conditions across Australia’s eastern states for much of the past few months.

“Furiosa” is currently targeting a May 24th 2024 release.
