Konami leaks upcoming Silent Hill projects in livestream description

Konami has allegedly revealed the list of Silent Hill projects currently in development in the livestream description.

Silent Hill is the hit horror anthology centered on a series of survival horror video games, created by Keiichiro Toyama, developed and published by Konami. In 2014, an interactive teaser titled P.T (playable teaser) was released on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4. The teaser is intended to reveal a new Silent Hill game entitled Silent Hills, which is being developed by Kojima Productions and is a collaboration between Hideo Kojima, film director Guillermo del Toro, and actor Norman Reedus. However, the Silent Hills project was canceled by Konami after Kojima’s departure from the company. Soon after, P.T. was controversially removed from the PlayStation Store, and the option to re-download it was disabled. Years later, the PS5 version was rendered unusable.

Christophe Gans, director of the 2006 film Silent Hill, said in an interview with the French gaming website JeuxVideo.Com in June 2022 that he has finished the screenplay for a third Silent Hill film and is aiming for a 2023 release date. In a subsequent interview with JeuxActu, he added that the third film would be part of a “relaunch” of the Silent Hill franchise, which will also include new video games. On October 16, 2022, Konami announced that an update to the Silent Hill franchise will be revealed on October 19, 2022, during a Silent Hill ‘Transmission’ event.

Recently, Konami leaked through a YouTube video description that a “Silent Hill 2” project would be presented during the livestream event. A placeholder space for a store page for Silent Hill 2 is also reserved in the description of the video. Following the video tags are terms such as “Silent Hill Ascension.”

The leak quickly surfaced on various platforms, but the description was eventually edited. Meanwhile, fans have speculated that the Silent Hill 2 project might be a reimagining of the original game and could be console exclusive to PlayStation. In any case, Konami will provide an update about the future of the Silent Hill series during the SILENT HILL Transmission Livestream 2022 that will begin shortly.
