With the weekend estimates in, Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Don’t Worry Darling” is headed for a solid $21 million opening at the domestic box office following a $9.4 million Friday gross (including $3.1 million in previews).

The Olivia Wilde-helmed thriller continues to be a source of headlines as yesterday as the film’s star Florence Pugh shared a heartfelt message on Instagram praising the cast and crew with photos, including one where she seems to be having fun with Wilde.

Critical reviews for the film have been poor, and the movie has since received a very mediocre B- CinemaScore from audience exit polls which suggests it won’t have legs and won’t have any real awards chances.

Costing a relatively tight $35 million to make, though it won’t be a big loss for Warners and is mostly succeeding right now on its Harry Styles appeal as women made up 73% of Friday’s audience.

Second place will be a neck-and-neck fight between “The Woman King” and the re-release of James Cameron’s “Avatar” with both tracking around $10 million each domestically. The “Avatar” re-release has also pulled in a solid $11 million overseas so far, adding to the original film’s more than $2.84 billion in ticket sales.
