AFI Reveals Top 10 Films & TV For 2022

The American Film Institute has announced its top ten lists for 2022 with some unexpected choices and omissions in terms of both films and television.
The Top 10 films for the year, according to the institute, are: “Avatar: The Way Of Water,” “Elvis,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” “The Fabelmans,” “Nope,” “She Said,” “TAR,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “The Woman King,” “Women Talking”
Films produced by international filmmakers don’t qualify for the AFI list, but a Special Award is handed out for those with “The Banshees of Inisherin” taking it this year.
The Top 10 TV series for the year, according to the institute, are: “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Better Call Saul,” “Hacks,” “Mo,” “Pachinko,” “Reservation Dogs,” “Severance,” “Somebody Somewhere,” “The White Lotus”.
Notable absentees from both lists include “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” “The Whale,” “Andor,” and “The Dropout”.
Selected by a committee of industry and critics, the honorees will be celebrated at the annual AFI Top 10 luncheon on January 13th.
